I am so excited to let you know that I went to Pompeii!
I have been there only once before, as part of a cruise ship tour where we didn’t get a lot of time to explore; so I have been determined ever since, to return and explore at my leisure.
This time our tour guide took us to a different area and we also noticed a lot of new discoveries. It is mind-blowing walking around and seeing the original frescos, tiles, day spas, how they lived and so much of it all preserved by the volcanic ash.
One of the new things we encountered was that there are phallic symbols in the original stone pavement on the street outside some houses. One tourists suggested that maybe it was because symbol might have been denoting the location of a house of ill repute, and the reply was no, even though prostitution was totally legal back then in 79AD. We were advised that the phallus engraved in public spaces and homes was not meant to represent an erotic symbol in this case, but a symbol of good fortune and wealth.
Pompeians, in fact, used the phallus to ward off the evil eye, bad luck, envy and disease.
So much so that it was even worn in the form of an amulet and pendant by both adults and children in Pompeii. I will attach a photo that I took so you don’t have to try and imagine it.
I’m not too keen on incorporating it into my collection of protection pendants.
Back then they didn’t even have a word for volcano let alone an awareness of how deadly it could be.
We were told that on the first day, the ash fell and on the second day the poisonous gases caused the fatalities.
Apparently, some people escaped and went on to live in neighbouring villages, all so fascinating.
A new month has now started, and the year is quickly flying by. I really did pack a lot into last month. I feel like I flew into winter on the other side of the hemisphere and now I am returning to an oncoming winter. Most people like to follow the sun, but this time I did the opposite.
April, the yellow month, is gone, and now we move into a green month; April was a whole month of the Mercury Retrograde period, with the post-shadow period finishing on the 13th of May (I can’t wait).

May 2024 is a GREEN MONTH
- The colour of growth, abundance, love, balance, and harmony
- The optimum time to open your heart up to things you want to create and new ideas.
- What do you want to bring into this world?
- Look at things that make you money, help you expand, and bring in abundance.
- The GREEN ‘heart’ energy is about community and bringing people together.
- This month, find your heart’s desire. What do you have your heart set on?
- There is a lot of love around, so be sure to give love. Be loving.
- Being out in nature and absorbing the healing green ‘ray’ will be beneficial for your mind, body, and soul at this time. Get out in nature and breathe. Green is about the breath and the lungs. Take some nice, big, deep breaths when you are feeling overwhelmed.
- Green is about detoxification. It is an optimum time to get rid of anything you no longer need or that no longer serves you.
- Work with Malachite, Adventurine, Peridot, Jade, or any green crystals.
- It is good to wear green around your heart chakra.
- Look to find some balance in your life, and be prepared to dig your heels in about what you want to achieve and do in this ‘green’ month. Be aware that others may well do the same and will want things done their way.
- It is important to feel happy about what you are doing and not be overwhelmed by stretching yourself too thin while supporting those you love.
- Whatever you choose to accomplish in this green month, be sure to put your heart and soul into it for a successful outcome.
